about

This is another one that's been redone a bit over the years. This was its first appearance, and it showed up again in a more ramped-up version on the live "Just One Night" album. The tune was entirely Gary's on this one, and I recall him being surprised when it came out more country-rock than he had expected (even more so on the live album). That happens from time to time, especially as we often no longer write in the same physical space - or, as in the case of this one, when we write it and then the band goes off and retools it to fit the live shows.

I can see when you look at me
You’re about to fly
You’ve been around this town a time or two
Now you couldn’t if you tried
Just relax, Let it be
I think I’ve got maybe just a little bit left in me

How you cried when he said goodbye
To look for greener grass
You tell me that there’s nothing left inside
And I might as well just pass
Don’t believe all you read
Because I’ve got maybe just a little bit left in me

For a while I can do the work for two
I’m not keeping score, I won’t ask a thing of you

You must know how I love you so
Let yourself give in
And please don’t worry ‘bout what I expect
You ain't been where I been
It’s alright, you will see
I’ve got maybe just a little bit left in me
Don’t believe all you read
Because I’ve got maybe just a little bit left in me
Just relax, Let it be
I think I’ve got maybe just a little bit left in me
