about

Another Monday Week-era tune of Craig's. The original of this had a ghastly, awkward (read "thought-it-was-clever") pause in the middle of each verse that was guaranteed to throw dancers into a frustrated fit (and sometimes led to dancers throwing other things at the band!). Fortunately, we had the sense to re-write it in the more standard form you hear here.

Though it still has an inexplicable Ebm chord in the bridge. How'd that get there...?

This was originally a tune that Craig had running around in his head simply called "the driving song",. as the tune would keep running around the brain while out driving on a sunny day. It does have a mighty happy tune for such a "negative" tune :)

It tears me up to turn you down
I feel like hiding underground
I've looked around but it can't be found
I want an easy way out of your heart

It hurts to love you, hurts to leave
Hurts to watch the way you weave
I've got to leave this make believe
I want an easy way out of your heart

Never heard you say you need me
And I got tired of hearing
What you mean to me

If we could have this chance again
Chance to start another end
I still recall when we were friends
I want an easy way out of your heart
